Responsibilities
* To provide leadership of the Company Accounts Team, circa 2 staff.
* To fulfil all financial reporting requirements e.g. monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets.
* To be the focal point on the external statutory and CASS audits. To lead the production of the statutory accounts.
* To comply with all regulatory filings – FCA, CASS and HMRC.
* To preserve the integrity of the financial records and maintain robust financial controls.
* To raise organisational financial awareness.
* To undertake Company Secretarial role for both OPAL Group and SFPL and its’ nominees.
Principal Job Objectives
* Ensure all transaction processing (AP, AR, Client/Customer Payments, Payroll etc) is completed on time and accurately reflected within the ledgers.
* Optimise cashflow by ensuring payments and collections are completed on time. Maximise interest on corporate monies.
* Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the ledgers by raising and posting journals.
* Complete reconciliations of all accounts and clear down any reconciling items swiftly.
* Produce the monthly management accounts and provide insight on key variances.
* To prepare the Quarterly Forecasts and Annual Budget in May.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset register and update the prepayments and accruals schedules monthly.
* To manage the company’s annual audits in ensuring Statutory Accounts completion by October each year.
* To ensure all company insurance policies are fit for purpose, accurate and policy renewals are completed in a timely manner.
* To ensure Corporate Governance report is updated and published monthly at Steering and Board Meetings.
* To adhere to all measures within the ISO27001 standard, ensuring Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability at all times.
* Work in accordance with OPAL’s ISO 27001, Data Protection and Consumer Duty Basic Principles and TCF policies and practices.
Company Secretarial & Management Duties
* Together with the Company Secretary Administrator ensure that Companies House is updated with all Directorship changes.
* To ensure Statutory Accounts are filed with Companies House within the statutory deadlines.
* To ensure staff are adequately trained and their Training and Development records are up to date, key man dependency is minimised and 6monthly/annual reviews are undertaken for all staff.
Essential knowledge and experience required at recruitment
* At least 5 years PQE, in financial services industry.
* Knowledge of financial services markets, current developments and products including investments and insurance products.
* Knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements.
* Degree holder, fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA), Top 10 firm trained.
* Strong leadership, inter-personal, organisational and communication skills.
* Exceptional levels of personal gravitas.
* Ability to work in a pressurised and fast moving environment.
* Ability to adapt to change with a flexible approach.
* Experienced in financial accounting and FP&A.
* Strong Excel Skills.
* Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
* Knowledge of HMRC requirements and reporting.
* Is familiar with SAGE Line 50.
