Finance Officer Local Authority CheshireWidnes BasedHybrid WorkingMonday to Friday 09:00-17:006 Month Contract37 Hours per week (Full Time)£16ph Umbrella Job Purpose As a Finance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the financial management ofour education and schools’ services, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance withfinancial regulations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, including schoolsand education teams, to provide expert financial guidance. This is an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with experience in local authority finance, particularly within schools and the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG). Main responsibilities Supporting the financial management of schools’ budgets and DSG funding Assisting with budget setting, monitoring, and forecasting Preparing financial reports and analysis for senior management Ensuring compliance with local authority financial regulations and policies Providing financial advice and support to schools and education services Contributing to financial planning and decision-making processes To be successful in this role, you will need: Experience working in local authority finance, particularly within education and DSG Strong knowledge of financial regulations and budget management within the public sector Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel Excellent analytical and communication skills The ability to work independently and as part of a team Service Care Solutions also offers a £250 referral bonus So, if you know of anyone who would be perfect for this position and they are placed into work, you will receive £250 for the referral once their probationary period has been completed.
