Lead Shift Engineer
Salary: £48,000- £52,000
Location: Slough
As the post holder, you will be expected to have an extensive understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & associated assets). As the lead member of the engineering shift team, you will be responsible for effective inspection, operation, and maintenance of all associated assets within the critical facility, with a primary focus on critical facilities risk management, enhancing the quality of the service delivery through effective leadership of the shift team.
Key Tasks of the Engineering Shift Lead:
1. Supervise, coordinate, and support the site-based engineering team, including internal and MEP responsibilities.
2. Operate all systems within the facility in a competent, effective, and efficient manner (including MV Switching Operations). Make recommendations for improvement and provide concise technical reports when required.
3. Ensure that Specialist Vendor worksheets are signed off where necessary, that quality of work has been inspected and recommendations are communicated by the Engineering Team (Shift Engineers).
4. Provide backup as engineering relief cover in the event of an emergency, which may require temporary Shift working.
5. Ensure the team and Specialist Vendors comply with the contractual service level agreements (SLA’s).
6. Key operator of the Corrigo CMMS system, ensuring that MEP PPM, Reactive and Corrective Work Orders/Tasks are accurately completed within SLA. Monitor progress throughout the shift to ensure compliance with expected outputs from your team.
7. Compile critical incident & near miss reporting and after-action reviews.
8. Ensure all critical equipment operational issues are escalated immediately, in line with local site process.
9. Assist the Chief Engineer in the delivery of critical infrastructure scenario training. Take a lead role in the development of engineers within the team.
10. Maintain minimum levels of resourcing onsite, support the arrangement of suitable cover/replacement.
11. Coach new employees as part of the process for onboarding new starters.
12. Audit 10% of completed Work Orders to ensure levels of quality are maintained.
13. Complete all responsibilities in line with the site-based MEP responsibilities matrix.
Personal Specification:
1. Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Critical Environments such as Banking HQ and Data Centres.
2. HV Authorised Person (Experienced with HV Systems).
3. Electrical/Mechanical Engineering HNC or HND (Successfully completed apprenticeship in either).
4. C&G Pts. 1 & 2, equivalent or exceeds.
5. 17th Edition IEE: Wiring and Installation (Ability to attain 18th Edition through additional training).
6. C&G 2391 test and inspection; BS 7671:2001 for inspection, testing and certification.
Shift: 6.00am – 6.00 pm Day Shift / 6.00pm – 6.00am Night Shift
Continental shift 3 days on, 3 nights one 4 days off, 4 days on – 6 days off, 4 nights on and 4 nights off.
