The post-holder will act as Keyworker for patients diagnosed with skin cancer, providing a link between patients and health care professionals across primary, secondary, and tertiary care, and act as an advocate for patients/families.
The post-holder will support the Band 7 Lead CNS to continually develop, implement, and evaluate the Skin Cancer Service to improve and maintain standards of patient care and promote a seamless service within a multi-professional framework.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills. The role requires the ability to work autonomously and independently but within an integrated collaborative team.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure that the users of the service are actively involved in the development of the service and that their recommendations are disseminated to the MDT and the Cancer Management Team ensuring appropriate actions are devised.
2. Establish follow-up nurse-led clinics for newly diagnosed patients and skin cancer patients undergoing treatment.
3. Ensure their role reflects the core components of the clinical nurse specialist which includes: clinical practice, management, organisation, education, research, and audit, taking into account the national cancer agenda and its impact on service delivery.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Evidence of ward/department management as nurse in charge
* Development of knowledge and skills in dermatology nursing
* Proven experience at Band 5
* Scope roles relevant to dermatology specialism
* Experience of carrying out and monitoring PDA process
* Evidence of management responsibilities already undertaken
Qualifications/Training
* RN with current registration
* Willing to undertake Non-Medical Prescribing (or evidence of working towards)
* Willing to undertake minor skin surgery course
* Up-to-date knowledge of professional issues
* Willing to undertake phototherapy course
* Willing to undertake wound management course
* Teaching / Mentorship certificate (or evidence of working towards)
* Post Registration specialist courses
* Willing to complete self-directed learning
Personal Attributes & Skills
* Demonstrate good verbal communication skills with multidisciplinary team/clients/relatives
* Demonstrate the ability to deliver educational and clinical skills training
* Evidence of ability to work independently
* Demonstrate knowledge of dealing with conflict supporting staff through mechanisms such as clinical supervision

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year Pro Rata Per Annum
