About your team:
You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.
About your role :
Reporting to the Responsible Business Director, the Senior ESG Reporting Manager (CSRD) will be responsible for the development and delivery of the organisation’s first CSRD-compliant annual report to be published in 2026. Working alongside the current Senior Reporting Manager and operating as part of a business-wide CSRD project team, this 12-18 month fixed-term role will be responsible for developing the content required for the CSRD-compliant aspects of the Annual Report, ensuring the non-financial data and other individual Disclosure Requirements come together as part of an engaging and consistent narrative aligned with Centrica’s existing sustainability reporting and goals. This position requires a dynamic and results-oriented individual who is passionate about sustainability and has a strong understanding of sustainability/ESG reporting, including CSRD requirements, and a proven track record of delivering best practice sustainability reporting. Hybrid working role ideally with 1-2 days per week on average based in Windsor, Berkshire. Other Centrica working locations could potentially also be considered.
Here's what we’re looking for:
1. Lead CSRD Reporting: Lead the preparation and review of a CSRD-compliant sustainability report, ensuring the company’s ESG performance is accurately and effectively communicated to stakeholders.
2. Collaborate with internal teams and external third parties as part of a CSRD programme team to build a clear understanding of Disclosure Requirements across the different Reporting Standards, that have already been identified as part of the Double Materiality Assessment.
3. Draw on best practice to develop a structure for the Sustainability section of the Annual Report to disclose these data points, policies, actions and targets (the Disclosure Requirements) and collaborate with the programme team to develop content for the report with input from data/policy/strategy owners.
4. Draft and review the CSRD report, securing feedback from senior leadership and other stakeholders, and ensuring it meets high-quality standards and effectively conveys sustainability strategies and progress.
5. Work with the core CSRD project team to ensure a good understanding of governance controls in place, and ensure report is written and reviewed in line with governance processes.
6. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, particularly the Programme Director and data owners across the business.
7. Policy and Strategy Development: Provide subject matter expertise across the business and key functions to help establish Social policies, goals and targets required by ESG regulations working closely with the Social Impact Strategy manager and Group Functions.
8. Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry best practices in sustainability current and future reporting requirements, suggesting improvements to internal processes and systems to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting capabilities.
9. External Audits: Coordinate with external auditors or third-party verification entities as needed to ensure the credibility and accuracy of the sustainability reports.
10. Regulatory Compliance: Working with the Legal team, stay up to date with EU regulations on sustainability and ensure that reporting practices comply with CSRD requirements, and consider future ESG regulatory changes.
11. Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Social Impact, ESG or other relevant field. (preferable but not essential).
12. Strong experience in ESG, sustainability, or related roles, with a proven track record of successful development, implementation and writing of reporting and disclosures.
13. Proven knowledge and experience in ESG reporting or sustainability, with a solid understanding of sustainability principles, the CSRD framework and other related reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
14. Hands-on experience of writing sustainability content for annual reports and wider disclosures, working with a broad range of stakeholders in complex organisations.
15. Analytical Skills: Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex data effectively.
16. Reporting: Experience in ESG data collection and analysis, development of metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting systems and disclosures.
17. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insight, and engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
18. Planning and organisation: Strong planning and organisation skills, with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
19. Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
20. Experience in automation of reporting processes and disclosures (preferable but not essential).
21. A proactive and collaborative manager with a passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change.
22. Agility and adaptability to change, working as part of a complex project team,
23. Ability to juggle competing priorities to deliver work to challenging deadlines.
24. Capability to work across a diverse set of stakeholders, motivating and influencing without direct authority.
