Head of Legal – Medical Research Charity
Major, Lindsey & Africa are supporting the Institute of Cancer Research to appoint a Head of Legal. They are one of the world's leading cancer research institutes and a market leader in identifying cancer genes, discovering cancer drugs, and developing precision radiotherapy. Together with their hospital partner Royal Marsden, they are rated in the top four centers for cancer research and treatment worldwide. They are a College of the University of London and have charitable status. The Business and Innovation team is responsible for the commercialisation of IP, with close liaison with the scientists and patent attorneys.
The role will report to the Director of Business and Innovation and will provide guidance as a business partner to senior stakeholders across the business, with responsibility for legal and compliance strategy. As a member of the Business and Innovation leadership team, this role will be influential to the strategic direction and development of the Institute. There is managerial responsibility for the Head of Clinical Trials Contracts and the Head of Academic Research and Services Contracts.
Requirements for the role include:
* a strong background in IP law
* significant practical experience of contract management
* experience of drafting, negotiating, and completing complex contracts in a research or clinical trial setting
* qualified lawyer with several years of post-qualification experience
* experience and focus on compliance matters
* experience of managing a team and ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and values
