Draughtsperson/Estimator
Location: Yaxley, Peterborough
Salary: £38,000 per annum
Monday - Friday
We are supporting an established engineering company who manufactures products for both national and international Infrastructure Projects. Following their continued growth, we have an amazing opportunity for a full-time Estimator / Draughtsperson.
Working on projects which may be as simple as a drawing for a one-off part or longer projects spanning several months or years.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Analyse customer requirements to prepare estimate bids to meet project goals.
2. Liaise with engineers and designers to understand their design requirements and provide technical advice to manufacturing technicians.
3. Produce detailed estimates including obtaining raw material and sub-contractors' costs to effectively establish accurate material, equipment and labour costs for the project.
4. Compile accurate estimates, bids and quotations based on all data gathered and share this with relevant stakeholders.
5. Calculate costs and apply knowledge of materials and engineering principles.
6. Liaise with customers on all levels to ensure the information received and the quote they receive is correct.
7. Estimate fabrication times working with our production team to ensure methodologies are appropriate and efficiencies maintained.
8. Create high quality detailed technical drawings and plans based on designs supplied by designers and make modifications to existing drawings.
9. Use of TurboCAD software programs to create designs in 2D and 3D models.
10. Prioritise outstanding enquiries in a way to promote customer satisfaction.
11. Take part in project meetings with the production management team to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget and address any issues before and during production.
12. Maintain accurate records and ensure any changes to drawings are updated and recorded.
We are looking for:
1. A good level of relevant steel estimating experience in an estimating/shop floor role.
2. The ability of a draughtsperson to understand and create accurate engineering drawings/work specifications - with a good knowledge of CAD.
3. Commercial awareness and good working knowledge of industry best practices and standards.
4. Good computer literacy - Microsoft packages.
5. Excellent time management, multitasking and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and work on own initiative.
6. Ability to closely collaborate with colleagues, clients and stakeholders with strong communication skills to ensure production schedules are met and concerns or opportunities are discussed.
7. Ability to travel and perform client/site visits when required.
8. Good problem-solving skills.
