We are on the lookout for a Payroll Manager to join the Payroll Team at Snows Head Office, Southampton.
Your Day
The Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate financial processes and procedures are established and followed to achieve the efficient and timely operation of the company’s payroll. The Payroll Manager manages a team of 2 to achieve this. This role reports to the HR Director and is part of the wider HR team delivering the People Agenda.
Your Day Will Include:
1. Oversees and directs the company’s payroll procedures.
2. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, payroll tax obligations, and internal policies.
3. Manages and coaches the payroll team to deliver the company’s payroll in a timely fashion.
4. Liaises with auditors and manages payroll tax audits.
5. Complies with the Pension regulations and ensures Snows’ colleagues are enrolled and their records are kept up to date.
6. Acts as the Pension liaison with Snows’ existing pension provider and shares information across the Group.
7. Collaborates with the wider Human Resource team and Accounts to ensure colleague information regarding pay is correct monthly.
8. Maintains accurate records and prepares all necessary payroll reports.
9. Contributes to the monthly People Metrics for the HR Director.
10. Ensures P11D’s / P60’s are processed and submitted in a timely manner.
11. Provides annual statutory reports such as Gender Pay Gap in the required timescale.
12. Provides support, advice, and assistance on matters of pay or colleague benefits.
13. Be an ambassador for GDPR protocols.
14. Accurate calculation and transfer of monthly payments to HMRC for tax and NI contributions, and other deductions and returns.
15. Ensures accurate holiday pay compliance calculations.
16. Ensures accurate information on Coopers & CIPHR for Company Car users to capture mileage and private fuel deductions.
17. Resolves issues and answers payroll-related questions with empathy and clarity.
18. Upholds payroll guidelines and revises policies and procedures when required.
19. Complies with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising senior management on needed actions.
20. Maintains colleague confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Have You Got What It Takes?
1. CIPP level 4 or equivalent experience.
2. Current knowledge and understanding of PAYE and HMRC regulations, payroll compliance, and other related laws (e.g., Pension, RTI submissions, ONS reporting, Gender Pay Gap reporting, etc.).
3. Works well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
4. Strong analytical skills and the ability to problem solve.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office including advanced Excel; Payroll systems (CIPHR Payroll) or any other industry standard payroll software.
6. The ability to lead and motivate a team.
7. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
8. Respect for confidential information.

Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00 (with 1 hour for lunch)
