Engineering Manager – Staff – Chemicals – Salary + Bonus + Benefits – Staffordshire
Our client operates a chemicals processing site and they are seeking an Engineering Manager to join their organization on a staff basis. This role will involve the management of a team of Technicians/Fitters and ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
The Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the engineering function within the site. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of all plant equipment, implementing and overseeing maintenance strategies, and managing workshop operations to support continuous production. This position also entails responsibility for capital projects and ensuring that all engineering activities align with strict health, safety, and environmental regulations. With a keen eye for identifying areas of improvement, the Engineering Manager will be instrumental in driving efficiency, reducing downtime, and ensuring that production targets are consistently met.
Duties:
• In this role, the Engineering Manager will be expected to provide strong leadership and strategic oversight across all engineering and maintenance functions within the refinery.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Technicians. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and prioritising workplace safety.
• The Engineering Manager will ensure that the team operates at peak efficiency while maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
• Another critical responsibility is the development and execution of a robust maintenance strategy aimed at maximising plant reliability and efficiency. This includes implementing and overseeing predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance programmes, ensuring that plant machinery and equipment remain fully operational with minimal downtime.
• The Engineering Manager will also have a hands-on role in overseeing the workshop, ensuring that repairs, servicing, fabrication, and modifications to refinery equipment are carried out efficiently and in compliance with industry standards. Additionally, the management of tools, spare parts, and inventory will be an essential function within this role to ensure the smooth running of operations.
• The successful candidate will also take charge of planning and executing capital projects, including infrastructure upgrades, equipment installations, and plant expansions.
• This will require close collaboration with contractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Ideally apprentice trained and obtained an HNC (Higher National Certificate) or other relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• A strong hands-on background is essential, with the ability to apply practical engineering skills in a high-pressure industrial environment. A sound knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX or similar regulations and application on the ground is essential.
