Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our team at Basildon Accident and Emergency Department. This role includes helping with the portering services within the Department, transferring to other areas in the hospital, and providing support where needed including transferring to imaging and other internal areas.
You will be required to complete the care certificate if not already completed. You will be providing health care assistant duties including completing clinical observations, patient hygiene and toileting needs, along with a variety of other area-specific duties.
Our department strives to meet the trust values of Excellent, Compassionate and Respectful. We support our staff and ensure that all staff receive a study day once every 5 weeks for staff development. You will be supported to complete your care certificate and given opportunities for further development.
Main duties of the job
Your main responsibilities will include:
* Recording patient observations
* Recording ECGs
* Basic nursing care
* Patient hygiene and toileting needs
* Transferring of patients to and from X-ray, CT and Ward areas - which involves pushing trolleys, along with a variety of other area-specific duties.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Good level of general education e.g. GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
Experience
* Experience of working with the public
* Experience of being in a demanding environment with changing priorities
* Previous portering or HCA experience in NHS or acute care setting
