You will be responsible for overseeing the catering operation at The Downs, part of Malvern College, an outstanding independent (private) Prep School for girls and boys aged 3–13 located in Malvern Hills, Worcestershire. Please be aware that the ideal start date for this position is in September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Chef Manager to make a name for themselves within our contract catering company and be a part of setting the new standard for education catering!
Experience as part of a Chef Manager within contract-catering/Education is preferred, however not essential. The ideal candidate will be a foodie and ambitious, capable of inspiring young people with their passion and dedication
Job Description
As a General Manager/Catering Manager/Deputy Manager/Head of Catering/Director of Catering your focus is to work closely with your teams to develop a great work relationship and together to provide the best customer service.
As well as having an excellent presentation, organisational and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion for food & service and possess bags of enthusiasm.
13. Collaborate with the back of house team to help develop well-balanced and nutritious menus that cater to diverse dietary requirements and preferences.
14. Prepare and manage the catering budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining quality standards.
15. Establish strong relationships with school Bursars, Head Teachers and faculty.
16. Recruit, train, supervise and motivate catering staff.
17. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and quality control protocols.
18. Identify opportunities for growth, innovation and improvement in menu offerings, service delivery and operational efficiency.
19. Maintain strict adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring a clean and organised kitchen environment.
Qualifications
20. Proven experience as a Chef Manager in a high-volume, quality-focused environment.
21. Ensure the quality and presentation of all dishes meet the company's standards and client expectations.
22. Assist in menu planning and development, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients.
23. You can demonstrate that managing, training, and supporting a team has been an important part of your career to date.
24. Ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
25. Ability to adapt to challenges and opportunities with a solution-oriented perspective.
26. Collaborate with the catering team to execute special events, themed dinners, and other culinary initiatives.
27. Foster a positive working environment by demonstrating leadership qualities, effective communication, and teamwork.
