1. Role Summary The Deputy Manager will assist the Home Manager in the day-to-day management and operational oversight of the nursing home, ensuring high standards of clinical care, compliance with all relevant legislation, and fostering a positive and supportive environment for residents, staff, and families. The role requires a registered nurse with a current and valid NMC Pin and demonstrable experience in nursing practice. The Deputy Manager will act as a clinical lead and support the delivery of person-centred care in line with the nursing home’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 2. Key Responsibilities 2.1. Clinical Leadership and Management Lead the clinical team to deliver exceptional care to residents in accordance with NMC professional standards, ensuring a safe, effective, and responsive care environment. Support the Home Manager in managing clinical governance, including medication management, risk assessments, care planning, and audits. Monitor and maintain high-quality care delivery standards in accordance with CQC regulations, internal policies, and best practice. 2.2. Staff Development and Supervision Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing and care staff, including conducting appraisals, competency assessments, and identifying training needs. Assist with staff recruitment, induction, and rostering to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained. Provide leadership in resolving any clinical or staffing issues that may arise. 2.3. Resident Care Oversee person-centred care planning to ensure all residents' needs are met effectively and in a dignified manner. Conduct assessments for prospective and current residents to identify care needs and appropriate interventions. Foster a caring, inclusive environment that promotes residents’ independence and overall wellbeing. 2.4. Compliance and Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with NMC professional standards, CQC regulations, Health & Safety guidelines, and company policies. Assist in preparing for inspections, responding to feedback, and implementing improvement plans. Participate in clinical audits, incident reporting, and risk management reviews, ensuring actions are completed promptly. 2.5. Communication and Team Collaboration Act as a key point of contact for residents, families, external professionals, and the internal team. Assist the Home Manager in creating and maintaining a positive and collaborative working environment. Attend management meetings, provide clinical updates, and deputise for the Home Manager as required. 3. Requirements 3.1. Essential Criteria: Must hold a current and valid NMC Pin (Registered Nurse – Adult, Mental Health, or Learning Disability). Proven experience in a nursing role within a residential or nursing care home setting. Strong leadership, clinical decision-making, and management skills. Sound knowledge of CQC regulations and clinical governance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and inspire a team, ensuring resident care is delivered to the highest standard. 3.2. Desirable Criteria: Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead. Relevant management qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 4/5 in Leadership and Management). Evidence of ongoing professional development. 4.
