It is a busy, interesting and challenging role aiming to assist with the day to day running of the harbour and maintenance activities and provide a professional and first-rate service to customers. Experience of sailing or boating is helpful to deliver on the specialist elements of the role. You will need to be motivated and flexible in your approach to work, confident in using your own initiative and able to prioritise daily tasks. What you can expect to be doing: You will be assisting the Assistant Harbour Masters and Berthing Officers and be called upon to complete a number of varied roles in all aspects of the day-to-day harbour operations and maintenance activities. Duties will include providing a professional and first-rate service to harbour customers on the main reception desk, meet and greet customers as they arrive by vessel, discuss and action their many and varied requests, taking fees and processing records, bay patrols, cleaning and maintaining slipways, steps, shower and WC facilities and completing harbour safety checks. Always busy, this is particularly demanding role so you will need to be able to work under pressure and always ensure that customers receive the highest standard of customer care. You will need to be able to communicate well and work efficiently with the rest of the team. You will be required to work outdoors and shifts will include weekends, evenings and bank holidays About you: You should be able to demonstrate some knowledge of Weymouth Harbour and have experience of marine activities as well as an understanding of small boats. You will be flexible and tactful and be able to deal effectively with a wide range of people. RYA Powerboat level two and VHF Marine Radio are desirable but not essential.
