A reputable global company is currently seeking a Shipping Coordinator to join its logistics team on a 24-month temporary basis. In this role, you will be working with internal teams and external partners to facilitate the safe, efficient, and timely movement of goods across international borders. You will be taking ownership of coordinating import and export shipments, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with trade and customs regulations.
You will be liaising with freight agents, obtaining competitive shipping quotes, and supporting customer shipment plans with a strong focus on controlling costs while meeting deadlines and regulatory requirements. You will also be managing customer communications, including tracking updates and return requests, and ensuring that all documentation is accurately prepared and recorded to guarantee uninterrupted delivery and client satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
* Coordinating the shipment of import and export orders by obtaining quotes from freight agents, preparing documentation, and liaising with departments to gather required information.
* Communicating with customers and arranging collections in accordance with FCA Incoterms.
* Preparing accurate documentation such as commercial invoices and shipping instructions in line with destination country regulations.
* Ensuring all imports and exports comply with HMRC regulations and company policies.
* Adhering strictly to International Trade Compliance procedures and legislation.
* Working with the customs brokerage team to ensure the correct customs regime is applied and information is accurate.
* Collaborating with Sales, Production, Procurement and Warehouse Teams to plan transport and manage the timely flow of orders.
* Resolving order or shipping delays and addressing any issues such as damaged or incorrectly packed goods.
* Maintaining accurate shipping registers and filing documentation appropriately.
* Updating production schedules and keeping managers informed of all collections and deliveries.
* Supporting internal and external audits or inspections as required.
* Carrying out additional duties as needed, in line with business requirements.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Holding an HND or equivalent in a relevant business discipline, with a CILT or similar logistics-related qualification desirable.
* Dangerous Goods certification (IATA/IMDG/ADR) is highly advantageous.
* Demonstrating solid knowledge of international logistics, including customs procedures and Incoterms 2020, with hands-on experience in coordinating sea, air, and road shipments.
* Familiarity with key shipping documentation such as CIPL, BOL, AWB, CMR, and MRN.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
* Communicating confidently and professionally, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organisation.
* Managing time effectively, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines, and working collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
* Demonstrating a strong customer focus, high ethical standards, and a willingness to develop and grow within the organisation.
