Job Title: Children’s Social Worker – Children with Disabilities

A Children’s Social Worker is required to join Solihull’s children with disabilities team.
What will your responsibilities be?
Under the direction and support of the Assistant Team Manager, you will work for the Children With Disabilities Team to coordinate and provide services to children who are subject to child in need plans, child protection plans, pre-proceedings, or court proceedings. Most of the children you will work with will have additional needs. You will make timely and appropriate responses to and manage assigned work in accordance with Directorate policies and procedures, budgets, and relevant legislation. You will share information and develop effective working relationships with team members, professionals in other agencies, and other colleagues in the Directorate. You will promote integrated working, ensuring a need-led response that improves outcomes for children and their families. The role involves undertaking assessments in line with the “Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families” and establishing and implementing action plans based on the assessed needs of the children, young people, and their families, in conjunction with their family and other agencies, in line with restorative practice values.

Qualifications and Experiences:
To be eligible for this role, you must have Social Work England registration and be eligible to work in the UK. Additionally, you need to hold a full UK driving licence and possess post-qualified experience. A degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work is also required. Looked after Children Team Social Workers need to understand and integrate into practice the key polices of the council in relation to social care with children and families, especially multi-disciplinary working, integration, and whole family approaches.
