Job Title: Behavior Support Officer
Location: Rochdale, Lancashire

Working Hours: 8.30 AM - 3.30 PM
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavior Support Officer to join our dynamic team in Rochdale, Lancashire. As a Behavior Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing support to individuals with challenging behavior, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, and those who have experienced mental trauma.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement individualized care plans that cater to the unique needs of each service user.
2. Employ a variety of strategies to manage and improve challenging behaviors while promoting positive behavior patterns.
3. Provide emotional support and practical assistance to individuals experiencing SEMH difficulties and mental trauma.
4. Work collaboratively with other professionals such as teachers, therapists, and social workers to coordinate support and interventions.
5. Monitor and record the service users’ progress, adapting strategies as needed to achieve the best outcomes.
6. Engage with service users, building trust and rapport to create a safe, supportive environment conducive to development and wellbeing.
7. Conduct risk assessments and ensure all activities comply with health and safety standards.
8. Promote understanding and awareness of SEMH issues among staff, service users, and broader community stakeholders.
9. Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings to review and update care plans.
Requirements:
1. A current and clean Enhanced DBS check on the update service.
2. Experience in working with individuals with challenging behavior, SEMH, and mental trauma.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with service users, staff, and other professionals.
4. A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to working with individuals with complex needs.
5. Proven ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
6. Firm understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
7. Relevant qualifications or training in behavior support, psychology, social work, or a related field.
