Care Assistant for person P/T @ £11.30 in St Pauls - Bristol - BS2
Disabled woman living in St Pauls with her medium sized dog.
Information about my client:
I am a passionately left-wing person who cares deeply for the environment and fairness for all. I love dogs and try to spend time in nature, identifying plants and foraging. I really benefit from a calm and gentle environment, but I used to love being at events and used to DJ, sing, and perform, and I really miss these outlets. I love music, creativity, good food, holistic therapies, and creative clothing.
My health conditions have significantly impacted how I'm spending my time - I have a mix of problems, but the most significant are ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Long Covid, heart problems, PMDD, and I suffer from weakness and chronic pain. I am struggling with a lack of confidence from being unable to get out much in social scenarios, so I would appreciate the company of somebody who can be compassionate and patient in supporting me to find ways to integrate more again. I am also diagnosed with ADHD and awaiting an Autism assessment, so I would appreciate someone who can understand the necessity of limiting overstimulation and assist me in staying organized and remembering things.
Some understanding of neurodivergence and fluctuating chronic health problems and the emotional challenges that come with this are necessary. I've recently experienced a significant bereavement which has also impacted my mental health, and it would be great to have the support of someone who can have awareness around this.
My strength and mobility have been significantly affected over the past year+. I don't use buses and generally rely on taxis and lifts to get around. It would be a help to have someone who can drive, but it is not necessary.
My client requires one or two female people to support with the following tasks:
· Prompts with eating (preparing food and drinks), prompts and support to select appropriate clothing, reassurance whilst showering/bathing, prompts with medication, support with cleaning, and prompts with laundry. Also, admin support around numerous appointments, advocating, and correspondence.
Due to the nature of her conditions, the tasks may vary daily depending on how she is feeling physically and mentally. An awareness of how to make the most of the hours given to work with the client is essential, especially due to the nature of her fatigue impacting her capacity and ability to direct scenarios. When my client is feeling less well, you will be required to do more practical tasks:
· Preparing breakfast, lunch, and drinks for the day.
· Support with washing hair, assisting with cleaning and laundry, and assistance with dressing.
· Checking that the oven, bath, and unused electrical items are turned off.
· Help to prepare meals and batch cooking to freeze.
· Support with shopping as required.
· Support to change bedding as required.
· Support with decluttering and organizing the house to be more manageable.
· Support to plan journeys to access the community or attend support groups and appointments to reduce anxiety and manage mental well-being.
