Interim Food Safety and Quality Manager

The Food Safety and Quality Manager is expected to understand, engage and lead quality processes allowing the company to maintain a work environment in which quality is our priority while controlling direct costs, meeting customer expectations, and ensuring safe work practices. Success is all about proactively building effective relationships that result in engaged work teams while continuously improving their environment.
The Food Safety and Quality Manager, as well as all team members, consistently contributes to an environment in which all team members are respected and are motivated to improve both their individual and the company team contributions to achieve desired business results. The Food Safety and Quality Manager will understand and address all policy and specification deviations.

The Food Safety and Quality Manager will provide support to the facility and operating crews in a way that monitors and contributes to an environment where people feel wildly important.
Role Description and Job Accountabilities:
* A leader in safety, quality and productivity for the whole facility and team.
* Owns Company Quality Systems and Food Safety Manuals and employs philosophies to employees, customers and business improvement activities by:
o Being engaged in the facility and with all the teams every day.
o Leading Quality Systems audit with Customer’s expectations and trains group to align expectations and encourages participation during audits for efficiency.
o Training opportunities are documented for the QA support staff through IDP’s.
o Updates Customer Quality Systems plan annually.
o Mock Audits will be performed internally in preparation for customer audits and as often as needed to ensure 100% 24/7 audit readiness.
o Will lead team when corrective actions are needed.
* Responsible for Supervising Quality Assurance Department including all policy and specification enforcement. Position will be strong resource for product quality aspects. Participates and monitors EQ initiatives and ensures that employees feel wildly important, supporting and leading teams through change and growth.

* Compliance with health and safety regulations and rules and ensuring others do the same.
* Understanding and compliance with all company standards of food quality and safety and taking immediate action in case of irregularities in the course of processes.
* Partnering for the success of meeting all Sanitation and GMP standards.
Person Specification, Skills and Experience:

* Possess the appropriate educational experience or job-related experience to perform the role.

* BS Degree in Science related discipline with a minimum of 8 years in QA or Food Manufacturing.
* Ability to oversee the management and improvement of Quality Management Systems including documentation, control and adherence to all food law and customer driven regulations.
* Proven skill and ability to manage day to day quality with review of quality records, SPC compliance and provides direction for plant and product continuous improvement.
* Ensures that all aspects of HACCP plan development, documentation and control are in place.
* Ability to develop, implement and control QA budget.
* Controls and manages the review of supplier issues with system to insure rapid follow up on issues.
* Ability to provide direction and guidance to plant team and display leadership in directing all aspects of quality in the areas of product evaluation, consumer and customer complaints, documentation. Quality Systems, HACCP, Micro, SPC, plant systems, inventory control, hold management and all programs incorporated within the Quality Management System.
* Must display excellent understanding of Sanitation Practices and Effectiveness verification.
* Experience with statistical tools, programs and interpretation of data.
* Possess and demonstrate passion for the job, the role, the company and the industry.
* Available to travel to customer locations when necessary.
