Job Summary
As a Social Work Assistant, you will work with customers who have a sensory impairment in their own homes to promote safe and independent living.
You will work alongside Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and other health professionals.
You will support sensory impaired individuals within East Dunbartonshire, providing advice and practical support to customers, carers, and family members, as well as assessing for and providing services and equipment.
You must have experience working with sensory impaired individuals, and the ability to sign would be beneficial. Good organisational and communication skills, as well as a genuine interest in working with people who are d/Deaf, sight impaired, or dual sensory impaired/deafblind, are essential.
You will be responsible for managing your time and workload.
This permanent post is for 35 hours a week, and you must be able to travel independently and have a full driving license.

PVG/Disclosure Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council. Please note that successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check, which will be deducted from the first salary payment.
In specific circumstances, the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages after commencement of employment, subject to approval by HR Services Lead. If an employee leaves before the payment is fully deducted, the remaining amount will be deducted from the final salary.
