Senior Analyst: from £45,854
Head of Analysis: from £54,500
Hours of work: Full time – 35.25 hours a week

Job purpose
Deploying the right evidence in the right way to support our narratives is vital to Energy UK’s work. The energy transition is complicated, and the purpose of this role is to help understand and explain it. You will do that by leading Energy UK’s analysis team to produce, curate and present a high-quality evidence base to make our policy, communication and public affairs work professional, credible and impactful.
Energy UK has an established analysis team that sits at the crux of Energy UK’s policy experts and communications team, playing a vital role in ensuring that Energy UK fully embraces cross-team working. You will be responsible for continuing to grow the work of the team and delivering high-profile analysis that actively shapes the conversation about UK energy policy. This is an ideal role for someone looking to take their policy analysis skills to the next level in an influential and varied setting.
Main Duties
* Leading the production of original analysis and modelling to frame issues in ways that are meaningful to the public and our stakeholders.
* Overseeing the collation of relevant publicly available data and presenting it in an easy-to-access and engaging manner to both internal and external audiences.
* Commissioning, managing and delivering work from external partners such as consultancies and polling agencies to answer questions in more depth.
* Line-managing Energy UK’s Research and Analysis executive, and managing your and the Executive’s work as a co-ordinated team.
* Assisting Energy UK’s public affairs, communications, events, membership and management teams with evidence and analytical capacity as necessary.
* Proactively engaging with Energy UK’s policy development and suggesting new ways your team can contribute to the association’s thought leadership.
* Working across our members to identify opportunities for Energy UK to gather and leverage their private data in a way that adds a unique perspective to policy discussions whilst respecting commercial sensitivities and competition law.
For the Head of Analysis role, we would expect candidates to be able to complete these duties with minimal oversight, in addition to taking on a high-profile and more public role within the association.
Person specification
* A well-developed expertise in interpreting and explaining the world through numbers.
* An ability to see the bigger picture, mould evidence to fit a narrative and identify opportunities for new information to positively shape policy discussions.
* Experience in people and project management, including a track record of organisation, time management and balancing competing priorities.
* A deep understanding of UK and global political and economic developments.
* Either knowledge and experience of the energy sector, or a willingness to quickly acquire it.
* An excellent ability to analyse and communicate complex issues, both in written and verbal formats and through high-quality data visualisations.
* Strong relationship-building skills and an ability to work well across teams.
* Can demonstrate the Energy UK values of Integrity, Ambition, Inclusiveness, Collaboration.
For the Head of Analysis role, we are looking for candidates with significant experience of all or most of these specifications, whereas the Senior Analyst role is an opportunity to further develop if you have more limited experience.
