We are looking to recruit an Assistant Legal Counsel to join the Legal team, based in Cala's Head Office in Edinburgh.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will contribute to a dedicated team, which strives to provide accurate, relevant, and commercially focused advice to the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Providing accurate, relevant and commercially focused advice to the business on a variety of legal topics
2. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements
3. Managing and mitigating risks by drafting and implementing company policies and procedures
4. Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business
5. Promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the business
6. Communicating with, and managing, third parties such as external solicitors or auditors
7. Designing and delivering legal training to the business
8. Carrying out anti-money laundering and general compliance audits
9. General support on property matters
10. Company secretarial duties
11. Conducting legal research
12. Staying up to date with, and ahead of, changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that affect the business and industry
13. Liaising with members of staff across the business
The above list of duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
About You
Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge
1. Have between 1 to 4 years’ PQE, preferably with in-house experience
2. Strong people management skills to drive and develop the more junior members of the team, must be commercially aware, highly organised and have the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, showing initiative and acting proactively
3. Positive work ethic and can-do attitude
