About the team/Department you will be joining:
The Joint Scientific Investigations Unit (JSIU) serves the communities of both South Wales Police and Gwent Police areas and comprises diverse forensic units including Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Collision Investigation, Specialist Imaging, Evidence Recovery, Fingerprint Comparison, Drugs Examination and Digital Forensic Units.
You will be joining the Quality Management Team who support all forensic units in the delivery of quality standards required by the statutory Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice and other relevant regulatory standards.
About the Role and Your Key Responsibilities
To support the Forensic Units within the Joint Scientific Investigation Unit (JSIU) to maintain their existing UKAS accreditations and expand scope as necessary. Work to BS EN ISO: 17025, ISO: 17020 standards, the statutory Forensic Science Regulators (FSR) Code of Practise ILAC G: 19 and any other regulatory requirements.
You will conduct quality audits of procedures within the JSIU Forensic Units and raise any identified non-conformances or recommendations for improvements. You will support the maintenance of JSIU’s Quality Management System (QMS), including the maintenance of schedules and document control.
What Skills and Experience Do We Need You to Bring to the Role
Essential Skills
* Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications.
* Must have good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
* Must demonstrate the ability for attention to detail.
* Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Previous experience of computerised office systems and administration essential.
Desirable Skills
* Welsh Language Level 2 - Can understand the essence of a conversation, convey basic information, contribute to meetings, transfer telephone calls and respond to simple requests in Welsh.
* Competent in Microsoft Excel, ideally intermediate or advanced level.
Essential Knowledge
* Must evidence previous experience of working to deadlines.
* Experience presenting relevant data and information to a variety of audiences both internal and external to an organisation.
Desirable Knowledge
* Knowledge of a policing or forensic environment and an awareness of Police systems and processes. Knowledge of ISO quality standards.
* Experience with UKAS accreditation.
* Experience working in a Quality Management System.
* Experience of Auditing.

This role is not suitable for part-time/job share workers due to operational requirements.
The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting.
