Dorset Council are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Engagement Ranger to join the Ranger team at Durlston Country Park National Nature Reserve. Durlston (1 mile from Swanage) is a wonderful combination of wildlife, habitats and visitor opportunities. Fantastic cliff views, walks, meadows, downland, woodland, activity play area and Durlston Castle - our Visitor Centre, Café, Exhibitions, Gallery and Duty Ranger.
You will be involved in all aspects of this busy Country Park, delivering high quality visitor services through visitor engagement, events, education and marketing and promoting Durlston and its activities. This includes assisting with events and exhibition programmes, leading school groups and children’s events. Responsibilities also include shop duties, website management, weddings, functions, promotion, administration, answering the phone, assisting with exhibitions, checking toilets, and generally supporting the day-to-day functions of the main visitor provision.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, have experience of working in a busy customer-facing environment, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. A background working in visitor services, events, or Country Parks is preferred. This position involves rota working, averaging 37 hours/week, including weekends, evenings, bank holidays, and school holidays. You must be willing to wear a uniform. Due to the nature of the role, a DBS check will be required upon employment. Salary: £25,992 - £28,624.
