The Role
We are recruiting a Knowledge Lawyer to support the Commercial & Technology practice.
The team is renowned for its commercial and technology work and is recognised for commercial, data protection and information technology in Legal 500 and Chambers with a Band One Chambers - South listing for information technology .
The focus of the role is to provide support to the lawyers on a wide range of high-quality commercial contract, advisory, IT and digital business-related work. The team also has within it a number of specialisms and sector interests such as franchising, retail, insurance, and ESG.
The role is available on either a full time or part time basis. As a firm we work flexibly and remote/hybrid working is available, with employees encouraged to be in the office at least 2 days per week (pro-rated for part time workers).
Qualifications and Experience
Key Knowledge Lawyer Responsibilities:
The role is broad and priorities may alter from time to time, but typically involves:
1. Drafting and updating precedents and guidance notes for use by lawyers, and managing this process across numerous documents.
2. Keeping the team aware of important legal developments in our key areas
3. Organising our regular know how meetings, collating agenda items, presenting where appropriate, ensuring team participation and follow-ups actioned.
4. Helping the team with technical and practice queries arising from their work, including helping with research and location of resources.
5. Acting as a sounding board and providing second opinions to members of the team on points of law.
6. Organising team training sessions and where appropriate, assisting with training.
7. Supporting our business development initiatives as appropriate, including assisting with research and copy.
8. Keeping up to date with legal technology solutions and assisting with implementation.
9. Managing the departments Learning & Development/training plans and supporting delivery.
10. Maintaining an up to date know how repository of relevant example documents and encouraging contribution of relevant know how from lawyers.
11. Generally keeping an excellent record of actions needed/outstanding/progress achieved.
Qualifications and Experience
Our ideal candidate will be an established commercial and technology knowledge lawyer. Some knowledge of data protection or competition law is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. You will need to be a qualified lawyer with significant relevant experience, and demonstrate you are or have:

14. The ability to quickly gain the confidence of lawyers at all levels
15. Excellent legal research skills
16. Excellent attention to detail
17. Experience in drafting in plain language and in English and recent experience in drafting commercial/tech contracts
18. Strong presentation skills
19. Experience in designing and delivering training programmes desirable
