Job's Purpose:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a key member of the management team and collaborates with various departments. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will build upon the experience you bring to the role, instilling best practice in manufacturing engineering activities. You will drive development and improvement of product/process to improve efficiency across the plant, resulting in reduced scrap, improved lead times and increasing productivity across all manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
2. Design and optimize manufacturing systems, equipment, and tools.
3. Lead and manage the engineering team: Process Engineers, Methods Engineers, Pattern Shop and Stores - by providing guidance, mentoring, and training to ensure the team's success and professional growth.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production operations.
5. Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions, managing new product projects through to production readiness.
6. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues.
7. Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
8. Support the development of new products by providing input on design for manufacturability.
9. Provide technical support and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing issues, troubleshoot problems, and optimize production output.
10. Analysis of scrap paretos, evidenced through action plans.
11. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
12. Develop and manage the manufacturing engineering budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost control. Specifically for patterns/fixtures/tooling.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
2. Six Sigma - Green Belt.
3. Proven experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role.
4. Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and project management.
5. Knowledge of manufacturing operations and equipment - casting technology desirable.
6. Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
7. Proficient in CAD software and other engineering tools.
8. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
9. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - influential, adaptable, resilient and approachable.
11. Strong I.T skills.
