The job will involve 2 years of learning, development, and mentoring as we look to train you to become the next managers of our business.
Our Depot Managers are involved in all aspects of the day-to-day running of a depot; from distribution and warehousing to sales and office management. Depot Managers are responsible for leading, inspiring, and line managing all depot staff including; the Office Manager, Distribution Manager, Warehouse Manager, Sales Support team, Distribution, and Office staff.
As a Trainee Depot Manager, we will support and coach you to be able to do this key leadership role within our business. We don’t expect you to know how to do the role straight away, however, we’re looking for people with the desire, ambition, and work ethic to work hard and learn the role of a depot manager.
What the Trainee Programme looks like:
6. Month 1 - 4 – Working in Distribution at a depot; shadowing the distribution manager/ operations manager. Spend time doing all roles in warehouse and going out driving as well as supervisory roles
7. Month 5 - 8 – Working in a depot office; shadowing the office manager and experiencing all office roles; incl. Telesales, Sales Support, Credit Control, Admin, Stock etc.
8. Month 9 – 12 – Shadow and support Sales Managers, including Account Managers, WDM, BAM.
9. Month 13 – 16 - Shadow and work alongside Regional Commercial Manager
10. Month 16 – 18 – Work in the Support Centre, in one department supporting them and understanding key functions, e.g. HOCC, Finance, HR, Commercial team
11. Month 18 – 24 - Work at a depot as a trainee depot Manager supporting the depot manager in all tasks

The Role Requirements :
As a trainee manager, we don’t expect you to be able to do all role requirements when you start, we just need you to have the desire and ability to learn it over a 2 year training period in a role which will require:-
12. The ability to travel is key. Although you’ll be assigned to a specific region we are a national business and need our trainee managers to gain experience at a range of different sites.
13. To learn how to manage the day-to-day running of the depot, focusing on exceptional customer service, balanced continually with distribution efficiency.
14. Accountable for defining, agreeing, and implementing the depot’s Customer Service Charter.
15. You will need to learn our systems inside out so that in the future you’re able to interrogate and analyse our systems and data to monitor performance and plan improvements.
16. In conjunction with the Depot Manager and Regional Manager, define and deliver the short, medium, and long-term plans for the development of the depot and the business.
17. Ensuring that the depot is fully compliant with all aspects of health & safety and that every member of staff is clear on their responsibilities.
18. Ensuring the depot delivers on all its requirements in terms of vehicle and fleet management, and protecting our operator’s license.
19. Supporting all employees within the depot, ensuring that the appropriate training, development, and reviews are completed.
20. Leading and inspiring the team, creating a culture of customer service excellence and a great team spirit.
21. Supporting the Depot Manager to set budgets and targets for the depot and each department, and ensuring the plan is delivered.
22. Monitoring and checking weekly sales and trading patterns, and adjusting the plan accordingly.
23. Analysing our systems and the data available to control margins and costs, ensuring the net profit ambitions are achieved.
24. Ensuring stock and cash integrity is maintained at all times, and that the right processes and procedures are in place to protect company assets.
25. Reviewing and adjusting the route planning, and optimisation to ensure that the depot continually adjusts the depots network to meet customer/business requirements.
26. Reviewing credit and finance across our customer base, making the right commercial decisions in conjunction with the Sales Manager, Commercial Manager, and Regional Manager.
27. Maintaining high standards in the depot, and at every customer touch point.

30. Experience in the use of computer systems and all Windows-based applications.
31. The ability to analyse multiple sources of data.
32. Good financial acumen.
33. Excellent communication skills.
34. Experience in delivering exceptional customer experiences with a “can do” approach.
35. Knowledge of, and an interest in, the Drinks Industry and the marketplace would be advantageous
