We support people with a brain injury who live within the Darlington, South Durham, Teesside, Hambleton and Richmondshire areas. We were established back in 2015 and provide direct support to 50 people with a brain injury each year as well as advice, information and informal support to carers throughout the year. From our Hub in Darlington we run a variety of weekly sessions including drop-ins, art and creative crafts and a chatterbox discussion group. Our charity is run entirely by volunteers with no paid staff.
Headway Darlington and District provides significant benefits to its members including peer support, socialisation, physical and mental stimulation within our classes and groups, and helping people to form lasting friendships. We provide advice, information and signposting too as well as raise awareness of brain injury through our fundraising, our website and social media presence. We send out regular newsletters to members too.
We are looking to appoint a paid worker - a part time (12 hours per week) Development Officer to help us deliver a number of our groups and sessions, maintain proper administration and systems, manage the referral process for new members and liaise with our members and volunteers.
