GPW Recruitment are partnering with Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd (FHTL) in Halewood to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer (Assembly) to work in their existing site during a huge transformation. Ford is investing £230m into the Halewood site to produce electric power units and it will be the first site to manufacture EV components in Europe, in 2024 with a capacity of 420,000 units.
The role
You will be part of the plant manufacturing engineering team and be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving manufacturing processes within the plant. You will manage projects and deliver them to optimal standards including safe, cost, on time and aligned with strict engineering standards. You will work with a varied range of teams including engineers, management, production, and maintenance personnel to deliver projects and services which support an advanced automotive manufacturing environment transforming into a world leader in electric vehicle powertrains.
Qualifications and Experience required by the Manufacturing Engineer (Assembly):
1. Degree in an Engineering Discipline – Essential
2. Computer literacy is essential
3. Thorough written and oral communications skills
4. Ability to direct teams
5. Experience of problem solving techniques and tools such as 8D's, Pareto, APQP
6. Ability to work in a team oriented environment
7. Lean manufacturing techniques
8. Knowledge of ergonomics and manual handling
9. Knowledge of SPC
10. Project management and change management experience is essential
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
1. Process owner of a series of components or assembly
2. Direct teams to improve safety, quality and cost
3. Managing the implementation of major capital projects
4. Initiate and implement cost improvement actions
5. Jobs per Hour improvements
6. Monitor compliance to necessary standards; GIS, TS16949, ISO14001 & ISO18001
7. Drive Reliability and Maintainability philosophy from enquiry to installation
8. Environmental compliance

1. Salary of £61,116.53 pa (inclusive of 35% holiday bonus for 33 days per year; 25 vacation & 8 bank holidays)
2. Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 7:00-15:30 and Friday 7:00-12:30
