Job Title: Marine Engineer Location: Wroxham, Norfolk Department: Production Reports To: Engineering Manager Starting Salary: Up to £16.25 per hour About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineer to join a leading yacht manufacturer. The role involves preparing, building, and installing engineering systems on luxury yachts, ensuring all work aligns with current drawings, specifications, and industry guidelines. Key Responsibilities Build and install mechanical engineering systems on high-end yachts. Work collaboratively with other trades to support the yacht build process. Required Knowledge & Experience Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering systems, including: Hydraulics Marine plumbing (grey, black, fresh water) Air conditioning Gas installations Engine, gearbox, and final drive installations Familiarity with marine engineering installation requirements. Experience working with GRP construction techniques. Understanding of modern marine engineering technologies. Health & Safety awareness within an engineering environment. Essential Skills Ability to install engineering systems in yachts or recreational craft. Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Safe operation of hand, power, and bench-mounted tools, including polishers and grinders. Experience in metal fabrication, including TIG welding. Qualifications & Experience City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Prior experience in a similar role within the past two years. Personal Attributes Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail with a "right first time" approach. Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team. Additional Requirements Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven surfaces. A keen interest in yacht or recreational craft construction is desirable.
