The role: As a newly qualified GP at Yeovil PCN, you will play an important part in providing high-quality, patient-centred care across five GP practices. Your clinical responsibilities will involve managing consultations during office hours, making phone calls and occasional home visits, and triaging patients electronically, by phone, or in person. You prescribe medications, handle repeat prescriptions, and process test results in accordance with national and local standards. In addition, you will diagnose and manage acute and chronic diseases, assist patients with complex needs, and provide health and wellbeing recommendations to encourage healthier living. Throughout, you will be encouraged to make your own clinical judgements while receiving organised supervision and a supportive environment. Beyond direct patient treatment, you will help the practices function smoothly by participating in clinical governance activities such as audits and significant event reviews, which ensure continuous service improvement. You will also collaborate with colleagues in practice meetings, help with administrative tasks including referrals and medical reports, and support vulnerable patients in compliance with legal frameworks. This position provides opportunities for personal and professional growth, with dedicated support to help you refine your skills and gain confidence.
