The team develops, designs, produces and commissions hardware and software and delivers standard products, customised systems and turn-key solutions. Project delivery ranges from supporting studies and approvals, modelling, manufacturing, testing and delivery to on-site commissioning and operation support and maintenance service.
Since 2014, PowerTec has delivered over twenty of Australia’s most relevant distribution network-size (50kVA – 5MVA) Australian Microgrid and Energy Storage projects.

Opportunity:
A new opportunity exists for an Industrial Electrician or Fitter - Industrial Energy Storage & Control Systems Manufacturing.
The Candidate Will Have:
* An A-licence as an Electrician and/or a Certificate IV in Electrotechnology (The A-License is optional, and would serve the purpose of leading apprentices)
* Relevant professional experience in the manufacturing (or installation) of:
o Industrial switchboards with primary electrical and secondary (control, protection, and communication) components
o Interpreting detailed electrical LV power distribution and control wiring diagrams
o Electrical kiosk, cabinet, or switchboard mechanical, auxiliary and safety systems (cooling, fire suppression, E-Stop, etc.)
* Ideally, already have had exposure to:
o Industrial-scale DC systems (battery or solar) systems
o VVF drives, inverters, multi-function protection relays, PLCs
o A past similar role within the Energy/Electrical Utility, renewables or power generation sector in Australia
* Understanding control wiring principles and complex relay logic
* A firm knowledge of AS3000, AS61439 and the other relevant Australian standards
* Experience in manufacturing, commissioning, electrical field services, and maintenance
* A pragmatic approach with a strong ability to problem-solve independently
* Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work to challenging deadlines with a small team from different professional and diverse cultural backgrounds
* Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
* Confidence in working independently with customer technical staff
* An Australian citizenship, residency, or suitable valid visa to work in Australia for at least 2 years
By the end of the year 2025, you will have:
* Developed a firm understanding of PowerTec’s solutions through peer-to-peer coaching and learning on the job
* Correctly and timely:
o Fitted-out and wired (and/or lead the fit-out and wiring by apprentices or contractors of) cabinets with power electrical, protection, power control, alarming, safety, auxiliary, HVAC, fire mitigation, and environmental control components, systems and circuits of a large-scale power conversion and battery energy storage system, based on a set of detailed electrical wiring and terminal drawings
o Contributed to the electrical and control design, and analysed and marked up functional and manufacturing drawings where changes are needed
o Developed an Integrated Test Plan, and factory-tested power-electrical, control, communication, protection and auxiliary sub-systems of an energy storage system for function, safety, and failure scenarios
o Produced documentation for (and optionally supervised) the installation of Energy Storage System cabinets on sites
o Optionally: programmed environmental and safety controls (high language, using IPCs)
* Undertaken and documented site-specific system hardware variations
* Contributed to improving the electrical system design standard for PowerTec’s PowerCache BESS product series
* Travelled to 5-10 sites for maintenance services, installation supervision and commissioning (normally 1-5 days per system)
