We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) / Cover Supervisor to join our vibrant and inclusive team at our secondary school and college in West London. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to support students’ academic growth, assist in the delivery of lessons, and supervise classes in the absence of teachers.
In this position, you will provide key support to teachers and students, ensuring that learning continues smoothly, whether you’re assisting in the classroom or supervising students during teacher absence. Your role will contribute to maintaining a positive, focused, and engaging learning environment across a variety of subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide classroom support to teachers, helping with lesson delivery, student engagement, and behavior management
* Offer targeted support to students, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they can access and participate in the curriculum
* Lead small group work or one-to-one sessions to address students' learning gaps or specific needs
* Supervise and manage classes when teachers are absent, ensuring that students stay focused and complete set tasks
* Assist in the preparation and organization of teaching materials and resources
* Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and offering insights on how to further support students’ development
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, supporting students in their social and emotional growth
* Collaborate closely with the teaching team and SEN staff to ensure comprehensive support for all students
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or Cover Supervisor in a secondary school setting
* HLTA qualification or equivalent, or substantial experience in a similar role
* Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
* Flexibility and adaptability in supporting diverse learners
* A proactive and patient approach to working with students
