RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MARINE FITTER The Marine Fitter will be the lead for the delivery of mechanical surety, safety and assurance across the fleet of JSASTC sail training craft and associated systems and equipment.
Operate as part of the maintenance and engineering team who provide technical maintenance and repair of the training yachts.
Overhaul and maintenance of small marine diesel engines of all recognised brands up to 300 HP.
Repair all auxiliary yacht systems including water systems and steering.
Fix and maintain marine A.C.
generator installations up to 15Kw output.
Repair and maintenance of outboard engines up to 75 HP.
Manage and assure the quality of engineering work.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE MARINE FITTER Formal qualification (ie City & Guilds Level 3 Or NVQ Level 3 in Marine Engineering and Electrics or Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications) and experience working in the maritime environment with mechanical systems on commercial sailing yachts or motorboats.
Working with power tools and workshop static machinery.
Expertise in working with Inboard and outboard engines.
The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience in working in the maritime environment with mechanical systems on commercial sailing yachts or motorboats.
Whilst holding a formal qualification (ie City & Guilds Level 3 Or NVQ Level 3 in Marine Engineering and Electrics or Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications) suitable applications should be able to show evidence of: Working with power tools and workshop static machinery.
Knowledge and good practice of health and safety.
Clear understanding of working with different small marine diesel engines.
Expertise in working with Inboard and outboard engines.
