CACIs Retail Finance Benchmarking Group maintains a number of member-subscribed, data pooling services for a large proportion of the UKs banks, building societies and fintech retail finance providers. Each member provides data on a regular, periodic basis. CACI processes and aggregates this data and publishes the output for each member to a secure portal, comprising a series of views of the members performance, and of a pooled, anonymised rest of market. The services enable members to: Form an objective view of their performance Take more informed decisions around product, channel, acquisition, and retention Ascertain market reactions to those decisions Identify shifts in market sentiment Here are some of the specific challenges we help our clients solve : Which demographic groups have the greatest change in behaviour for my products? How has my market share changed over the last 12 months, and how does that differ between types of products, or region? Where are there opportunities for our business to launch new products? How many of my customers are due to mature in the next 12 months and how does that compare with our competitors? How has a recent market event impacted the market for our products? How does our market share vary in places where we have a branch, and why? What youll be doing: Reporting to the Data Processing Manager, the database analyst will be responsible for reviewing, managing, and publishing our weekly and monthly data cycles. Key responsibilities will include: Managing the collection and processing of our clients data files in a timely manner. Regularly verifying the quality of our clients data to ensure accuracy. This requires highlighting irregularities, analysing trends, and seeking context behind interesting data observations. Interrogating and supporting both our terabyte-scale SQL (T-SQL) server back-end and our Tableau/Liferay front-end. Guaranteeing client confidentiality is always protected. Ensuring the wider team has visibility during the collection, processing, and publication stages of a data cycle. This involves updating our processing logs, and effectively communicating cycle affairs via Microsoft Teams. Working closely with our clients to resolve outstanding data issues, escalate service publication delays, and improve standards of data delivery over the long term. Collaborating with senior stakeholders on projects to enhance the quality of our data checking processes with the aim of improving accuracy. Due to the sensitivity of the client data, the candidate will be expected to have a keen eye for detail and follow our checking procedures to ensure the accuracy of the services we deliver to our clients. The role is a critical part of the overall objective of the team, to ensure that UK retail finance providers can take informed decisions based on prompt, consistent, and accurate data. Who you are: Core Skills: Analytically and numerically minded applies attention to detail by being able to spot anomalies and patterns in the data. Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills. Problem solver, who is keen to find the root cause of a data issue and is proactive in finding a solution. Team player with a growth mindset, who enjoys working in a collaborative environment. Highly personable and able to develop strong working relationships with our clients. Experience in using data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Qlikview or Power BI advantageous but not essential. Retail Finance experience preferable but not essential. Technical Skills Experience in (or willingness to learn) writing and understanding SQL queries for data analysis, manipulation, and processing. Well-developed skills with Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel. Previous exposure to relational databases, data warehouse architecture and standard design concepts are a bonus. Desire to learn Python, but this is not essential. Candidates possessing the above technical skills are preferred but this is not essential as training will be provided.
