Our Energy & Resource practice are looking for an Analyst to join the team
In this role, you will be based in our New York City office, working at the forefront of the energy transition with a focus on energy markets and networks. You will collaborate with two distinct but interconnected teams, gaining a unique and comprehensive perspective on the energy landscape.
Our Energy Market Advisory and Networks teams bring together expertise across energy markets, utilities, and infrastructure to provide strategic, economic, and commercial consulting. We support a diverse range of clients, including energy companies, financial institutions, governments, regulators, and utilities, helping them navigate the energy transition, adapt to the challenges of climate change, and position themselves for future success. Whether improving market strategies or optimizing utility operations, we operate across the value chain to deliver innovative, reliable, and impactful solutions. You will play a key role in this work, delivering insights and guidance to drive meaningful outcomes for our clients.
What you will be doing
You will be joining a team of trusted and well-known experts in the energy industry. We work with our clients at the intersection of capital, infrastructure, and regulation to understand the value of power generating assets and the grid that connects them. You will be supporting the consulting team and our clients on engagements like:
Energy Market Advisory
* Business and commercial strategy for corporations across the energy value chain
* US market entry strategy for global renewable energy developers
* Business case development for distributed generation technologies
* Green power procurement strategy for large energy users
* Decarbonization & transition planning for large corporations
* Granular power market modelling focused on North American markets
* Working with SQL databases, Python, and data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, in addition to advanced usage of MS Excel and other MS Office tools
Networks (Transmission & Distribution)
* Conduct vulnerabilities studies to forecast the financial impact to transmission & distribution assets from the physical risks of climate change (e.g., flood, wind, heat, wildfires) and development of resilience adaptation plans to mitigate those risks
* Coordinate development of solar and storage assets in low-income communities to enhance grid reliability and generate cost savings for consumers
* Support regulators and utilities to improve distributed energy resources integration and quantify the full benefit stack of microgrids and behind-the-meter assets
* Support asset owners and policymakers to shape the future of the US energy market and the roles of energy networks in enabling and delivering their net zero targets
* Shape the strategic digital roadmap, leading vendor selection and the design and delivery of leading network management and grid optimization solutions (e.g., ADMS, DERMS, advanced planning tools, etc.) for transmission and distribution companies
Your skills and experience
* You will have knowledge of current and future energy sector ambitions and challenges, and a passion surrounding the energy transition
* You will have experience or knowledge of wholesale power and gas markets
* You will have experience or knowledge of regulated utilities ideally electricity/gas networks or system/market operators
* You will have experience or knowledge of business and commercial strategy
* You will have the ability to take ownership and deliver results in challenging, client-facing and internal environments
* You will have excellent communication and presentation skills and a track record of effective team working
* You will have strong analytical skills, and ability to develop innovative business solutions based on effective processes and focused on business value outcomes

* Salary range: $80,000 - $95,000
