The post holder will utilise skills of clinical expertise, leadership, education, and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers, and staff. The post holder will provide advice, support, and information and will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a co-ordinated quality service. The post holder will be actively involved in ensuring a high-quality safe service for patient and staff leading on audit and research as appropriate.

To provide support to the Senior Sister in effectively leading and managing the ward.
Participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse taking the responsibility for the leadership of a team of staff.
To assess care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and act as a role model to junior staff, undertaking performance management as required.
To take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients and the whole ward for the duration of the shift.
