What this role is about:
The Head of Commercial will be a key member of the Sales and Customer Success leadership team, reporting directly to the Director of Sales and Customer Success. This role is critical to growing a new/emerging market in the UK (commercial/private sector); achieving revenue goals, and ensuring customer satisfaction and retention. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in start-up/scale-up environments, particularly in building out new verticals.
What you’ll do:
* Grow New Sector:
o Develop and execute strategies to enter and grow the commercial/private sector market.
o Achieve and exceed revenue targets across new sales, renewals, and upsell opportunities in this emerging market.
o Turn pilot projects with festivals and events into repeatable business.
* Hands-On Sales Leadership:
o Lead and actively participate in high-value sales deals.
o Implement and refine a scalable sales process from customer acquisition to renewal.
o Ensure alignment between sales and customer success to optimise customer lifecycle management.
* Support, Lead, and Develop Team:
o Recruit, train, and retain top talent within the commercial ‘pod’ team.
o Create and execute development plans for team members to advance their skills and careers.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team.

Team:
* Lead a team of 2-3 direct reports, including a Key Account Manager and a Market Development Executive.
* Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
* Provide mentorship and development opportunities to team members.
What we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:
* All of our colleagues have to pass an NPPV3 clearance; you can find out more about it here but a key feature is having the last 3 years living in the United Kingdom.
* Be eligible for work in the UK; we are unable to offer sponsorship.
* Proven experience leading growth in a start-up/scale-up tech company, particularly in building out new verticals.
* Strong advantage if experienced in public security/health & safety or large private sector organisations (e.g., Network Rail, Environment Agency).
* Demonstrated success in mentoring or leading sales and customer success reps in a high-growth environment.
* Hands-On: Willingness to get involved in the details and lead by example.
* Growth Mindset: Always looking for ways to improve and grow the business.
* Test and Learn Attitude: Ability to experiment and iterate to find the best solutions in an unproven market.
* Proactive Doer: Takes initiative and doesn’t wait to be given tasks.
