Job Overview
We are looking for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join our team of Consultants in Women’s Health at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust, Bristol. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in Urogynaecology and postnatal care.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as we develop and expand services offering high-quality care to women.
Main Duties of the Job
Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register and have CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Full registration with the GMC is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital. The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from the base hospital for on-call purposes. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. The successful candidates will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
The post holder will hold CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, or be within 6 months of this. They may have additional experience in other specialist areas to meet the needs of the department, but an interest in urogynaecology and postnatal care is welcome.
The postholder will be responsible for the clinical management of patients under their care, and for continuity of care in liaison with consultant colleagues when absent.
The postholder will supervise and manage junior medical staff and participate in a Clinical Audit Programme.
There is a strong research element in our department, with opportunities to develop research aligned with departmental plans.
Person Specification
* MRCOG or equivalent
* CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and entered on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of commencing the post
* Maintain full registration with the GMC
* Clinical training and experience in general Obstetrics & Gynaecology equivalent to that required for UK CCT
* Evidence of recent CME and reasonable training progression
* Experience in audit and quality improvement projects
* Experience in delivering teaching and involvement in the organisation of a teaching programme
* ATSM in or sub-specialty training in urogynaecology
* Higher academic qualification (e.g., MD or MS)
