Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced nurse who is enthusiastic, adaptable and confident, can prioritise a combination of diverse tasks and can work autonomously.
The successful candidate will have prior experience of working within clinical research and will be knowledgeable concerning the role and relevant research governance and legislation requirements. Within this role you will develop further research skills and experience which will be supported by relevant training opportunities.
You will be joining a diverse and ever growing research workforce which supports integration and growth of clinical research across the organisation.
The Senior Clinical Research Nurse is expected to provide leadership of the research activity across Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital, Theme 2. They will support the set up and delivery of all phase/complex commercial and NIHR research portfolio studies.
This will involve working across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that all studies recruit to time and target within research governance requirements. They will act as a source of specialist knowledge concerning research for colleagues within their department and support the BCF Lead Research Nurse in the running of the BCF site.
The post holder will be based at the Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital. They will report to the BCF Lead Research Nurse.

Education/Qualifications
* Nursing qualification with current NMC registration
* Recognised research module/qualification or equivalent short courses and accredited updates
* Recognised teaching module/qualification
Experience
* Experience of working in Clinical Research
* Minimum 2 years as a band 6 nursing experience
* Experience of formal/informal teaching of patients and staff
* Experience in delivering evidence based practice
* Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner
* Experience of phlebotomy and cannulation
* Line Management Experience
* Experience of Study Set-up and Finance management
* Clinical experience in delivering phase II and above clinical research where unlicensed drugs are being given
Skills and aptitudes
* Competent to administer oral and IV medication
* Competence in phlebotomy and cannulation
* Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage conflict situations.
Other
* Willingness to work flexible hours as required by the trial protocol.
