Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the running of the dispensary, with responsibility for the safe and accurate dispensing of all medicines and medicinal products as prescribed by authorised prescribers within the Medical and Dental Centre. The post holder will provide advice on Pharmacy and prescribing issues to practice staff and be responsible for ordering and accounting for medicinal products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:
* Overall responsibility for the safe and accurate dispensing of all medicinal products to patients as prescribed by the Medical Practitioner. Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) Practices operate under Dispensing Doctor Regulations, so the Pharmacy Technician will work unassisted, and unsupervised by a Pharmacist and will therefore be responsible for self-checking.
* Use of Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP) and computer systems for dispensing and stock management, in accordance with SOPs.
* Stock management and pre-labelling of those medicinal products supplied by Nurses and Combat Medical Technicians.
* Compliance with current legislation, policies and guidance regarding security, health and safety and patient confidentiality.

* Registered to General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Qualifications
* Plus other additional training for checking dispensed prescriptions without further reference. Practical experience to be able to operate in a singleton post.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£29,970 to £36,483 a year Per Annum (Pro-Rata for part-time)
