Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the systems engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.
Typical Deliverables
* Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
* Potentially lead in creating new product or service ideas and drafting plans for new designs.
* Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
* Develop detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
* Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop real-world solutions.
* Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
* Forecast accurate project costs.
* Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
* Ensure quality control testing and oversee construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of your professional engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
* Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
* Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Develop personal engineering skills continuously.
* Solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
* Work independently with minimal guidance.
* Lead projects or project phases and mentor less experienced colleagues.
* Comply with QEHS standards.
Skill Requirements
* Previous technical SISS experience, including engineering, design, and survey skills.
* Relevant licenses and certifications.
* Proficiency in MS Office and CAD software like AutoCAD/MicroStation.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to collaborate and focus on customer needs.
* Strong problem-solving, analytical, and reasoning skills.
