Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. In this role, you will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Responsibilities
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs
* Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans
* Collaborate with teachers to create and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of all students
* Support students during classroom activities and help them develop positive social skills
* Communicate regularly with parents and other staff members to provide updates on student progress
Qualifications
* Experience working with students who have SEMH needs
* Knowledge of behavior management strategies and techniques
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
* Relevant certification or training in special education or related field is a plus
Day-to-day
* Work closely with teachers to identify and address the needs of students with SEMH challenges
* Provide support during classroom activities and help students stay focused and engaged
* Communicate with parents and other staff members to ensure a collaborative and supportive approach to student development
* Assist in the implementation of behavior plans and provide feedback on their effectiveness
