Anglian Waters Alliance has a huge ambition to increase the delivery of nature-based SuDS and adapt the way we respond to the challenges facing our industry. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the growing SuDS team and play a vital role in the delivery of nature-based solutions. From initial optioneering, through design development, to support during the construction phase, you will be working on projects across the entire Anglian Water region in a variety of settings, rural, urban, and public realm. Key Accountabilities: Design Excellence Identify and scope catchment-based opportunities for sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) within the Anglian Water catchments. Collaborate with modelling teams to understand the benefits of potential catchment-based solutions. Interpret existing information, drawings and modelling data and scope surveys to facilitate the delivery of SuDS solutions. Integrate SuDS solutions within challenging urban landscapes from experience of working in the built environment. Undertake hydraulic design of potential SuDS solutions from experience in hydraulic modelling software such as MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, or InfoDrainage. Work with Anglian Water’s BIM Team, providing technical sketches to deliver full technical drawings and specifications for developed SuDS solutions. Develop Anglian Water’s SuDS standards from design experience and national standards such as The CIRIA SuDS Manual and relevant British Standards. Read drawings, review modelling data, and produce design sketches. Provide technical input on scope, budgets, and schedules. Health & Safety Prepare Pre-Construction Information (PCI) following one Alliance and CDM2015 guidelines. Implement design risk management and create risk assessments. Support Tier 2 Contractors and Principal Contractor in preparing Health & Safety Files. Respond to technical queries during construction, considering cost, safety, and structural integrity. Project Management/Site Surveys Manage surface water projects from feasibility to construction. Maintain strong relationships with clients, Anglian Water, and stakeholders. Conduct and document site surveys, review SuDS solutions, and identify risks. Prepare site investigation requirements and manage survey briefs using tools like laser scanning and drones. Ensure technical work meets agreed timelines, budgets, and standards. Monitor project progress, addressing any deviations in cost or schedule. Ensure designs meet Anglian Water and one Alliance standards for quality and risk. Customer & Collaboration Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and ensure efficient delivery. Present solutions confidently to both internal and external stakeholders. Understand and apply Anglian Water’s customer experience charter and ODIs to SuDS projects. Review designs before construction and handover to Anglian Water. Support regular team updates and foster collaboration. Transformation Research, propose, and implement innovative SuDS solutions to improve project outcomes. A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours To be successful in this position you will ideally hold a degree containing Environmental design/Engineering subjects and have a good understanding of hydraulic design principles including peak flow and volume control in accordance with the CIRIA SuDS Manual and non-statutory technical standards for sustainable drainage systems. You will have experience in developing innovative SuDS solutions to provide multiple benefits including the reduction of spills from combined sewer overflows and flood mitigation. Using your excellent communication skills, you will consult with various stakeholders, including highway authorities, private landowners, local authorities, and internal teams such as solutions, modelling, survey co-ordination, CAD, enabling to bring about positive outcomes. With a working knowledge of CDM regulations you will be confident at producing technical sketches to communicate and progress designs diligently.
