Graduate Transport Planner / Travel Planner My client is a specialist transport and sustainability planning services company boasting a stellar reputation across the North West, Yorkshire, Midlands and the wider UK. By working with a range of clients from different sectors, they support the planning of complex, challenging and varying scale developments making them possible from a transport perspective. They have a prestigious portfolio of clients in major volume housebuilders, land promoters, city centre regeneration specialists, retail parks, education facilities, local authorities and the NHS. The majority of work has historically been secured through word of mouth and repeat work, however their expansion plans and recent instructions mean they are seeking a Graduate Transport Planner that is keen to expand their knowledge and learn from some of the best in the industry. The role will include the day-to-day technical input into a variety of projects. This will involve the preparation of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans including trip generation, distribution and assignment, junction capacity assessments, highway design including use of CAD, accident data analysis, public transport and site accessibility assessments including the use of GIS and Public Transport Accessibility software. You will meet with a wide variety of clients to offer and deliver solution based strategies that improve accessibility and address the multiplicity of issues associated with single car occupancy. You will also assist in delivery of their market first sustainable travel nudge campaign across large employers making full use of social media and technology to deliver key messages. You will be required to meet with varied stakeholders including designers, Local Authorities, Councillors, residents et al to achieve goals and develop strong long term relationships. As required you will negotiate with stakeholders and partners along with project management of contractors to maximise sustainable travel utilisation. As the job is effectively split into two specialisms the spec is split into two. They would be pleased to meet with any individual who has good experience in one or both of the specialisms, provided that there is a willingness to assist and develop their expertise in both areas. The succesful applicant will then be able to choose the specialism that fits with their skills set and career aspirations. For the enginnering element an interest in the following will be needed : Highway junction design and use of AutoCAD software; Junction analysis and use of ARCADY, PICADY, TRANSYT and LINSIG software; Production and input into Transport Assessment and Travel Plan preparation; Understanding of the planning process and highway orders; Understanding and knowledge of GIS and accessibility mapping; and Use of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Word. For the Travel Planning Role competencies should include: Travel Plan co-ordination; Knowledge and understanding of how to successfully change behaviour for long term benefits; Experience running large scale campaigns and events to various audiences; Ability to engage and sell to wide audiences and develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders; Knowledge and passion for transport, human movement and sustainable travel; Social media savvy and experience of integrating social media into work campaigns and programmes
