Commercial Manager
Due to continued growth, opportunities have arisen for a Commercial Manager to support a large UK Nuclear Sector Client. This is a permanent role, largely remote with potential site visits once a week as required.
Role Overview:
The Commercial Manager will lead the commercial aspects of the Consultancy & Civil Nuclear Business Units. The role involves a mix of leadership, contract management, bid support, and risk management responsibilities. The successful candidate will ensure that commercial objectives are met while delivering quality support to internal stakeholders and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide commercial leadership, primarily focusing on Consultancy and Civil Nuclear.
2. Motivate and engage relevant stakeholders, including team members, clients, directors, and support functions.
3. Facilitate progress and delivery meetings to drive performance.
4. Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies with stakeholder agreement.
5. Provide NEC contract support and guidance to Project Managers and other stakeholders.
6. Review, negotiate, and draft NEC and other contract agreements.
7. Proficient use of CEMAR to manage contracts and review PMIs. Monitor and audit project health, including CEMAR compliance.
8. Act as Framework Manager as needed and support other Framework Managers.
9. Support the review and signing of upstream contracts, ensuring completion of tender and contract reviews.
10. Support subcontract strategy development and liaise with Project Buyers/Procurement teams.
11. Prepare and negotiate sub-contract documentation, incorporating risk management clauses and suitable payment options.
12. Analyse tender costs, audit fees, and manage subcontract governance.
13. Review tender contracts, draft non-disclosure agreements, and provide commercial input for bid responses.
14. Support the production of tender risk registers and assess potential issues.
Qualifications:
1. A relevant university degree or professional accreditation from a recognized body (Essential).
2. Membership of an appropriate technical/professional body (Essential).
3. GCSE (grade C or above) in Maths and English or equivalent (Essential).
4. Strong understanding of NEC Contracts (Essential).
5. Experience in commercial/contract roles with a focus on confidentiality and attention to detail (Essential).
6. Familiarity with project management principles (Essential).
7. Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent (Desirable).
8. Experience in NEC3 and/or NEC4 contract writing (Desirable).
9. Capable of planning, estimating, and writing for bids (Desirable).
