Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with an interest in TB & COPD
The post is a fixed term contract for a period of 6 months.
We are seeking a dynamic Locum Respiratory Consultant to join the Leeds TB & COPD Specialist services at St James University Hospital. The appointees will become a key member of a dedicated and highly experienced multi-disciplinary team.
The job is a full-time fixed term locum post comprising of ten programmed activities, with supervision of the junior doctors and specialist nurses. There will be an on-call commitment to cover the Respiratory Medicine rota on a 1:12 basis and 1:109 Acute Medicine on call.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe, housing over 2,000 beds and providing a range of general, acute and elective services, together with a significant number of regional and supra-regional specialties. The department of Respiratory Medicine has undergone significant modernisation over recent years and remains a centre for clinical and educational excellence. Inpatient services are provided in Gledhow Wing at St James's Hospital. This includes three Respiratory wards, an NIV Weaning unit, a dedicated CF ward, a procedures room, Sleep services and a Nurse-led day unit. There are cross-city outpatient facilities including a dedicated chest clinic at Leeds General Infirmary. The unit has a strong commitment to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant should possess Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in Respiratory Medicine & General Medicine and its related specialties including TB & COPD. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part-time and those wishing to job share.
Job description
This post is a full-time (10 PA) Locum post, fixed term for a period of 6 months. The appointee will work at St James's University Teaching Hospital, where there will be inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.
There is a commitment to Respiratory Medicine 1:12 on call and Acute Medicine 1:109 on call. The applicant should be committed to teaching and research.

* MB BS or equivalent qualification. MRCP or equivalent qualification Certificate of completion of Specialist training in Respiratory and General Medicine or CESR or equivalent
* The appointee must hold the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, or equivalent, and have completed higher specialist training in Respiratory Medicine
* Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice
