As a Technically experienced Fleet Engineer you need a dedicated approach and ability to take the lead, you will be pivotal in maintaining our Contract Hire and Rental National Fleet of Vans, Trucks and Trailers, ensuring legal compliance, cost authorisation and vehicle repairs and conditions are second to none, building relationships with new and existing suppliers, developing and honing our SLAs to deliver exceptional service and cost efficiency. Hours Mon- Fri 08:00 18.00 two days office based, 3 days field-based supplier and customer facing travel required. Fleet Management: Responsible for all fleet maintenance cost & activities, ensuring vehicles are serviced and maintained in accordance with legal requirements, manufacturer guidelines, and company standards. Technical investigations and report as required. Technical fault diagnosis and value for money repair solutions. Defining and executing strategies for the timely and cost-effective defleeting of assets, considering factors such as vehicle age, maintenance costs, and utilisation profiles. Cost Control Responsible for all monitoring and managing the total cost of ownership (TCO) for the fleet, including acquisition, maintenance, disposal Defining and managing the process for defleeting vehicles, including the timing of disposals, and maximising residual values Responsible for regularly review and optimise supplier contracts, maintenance schedules, and procurement practices to ensure cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency Supplier relations: Developing long-lasting supplier relationships, effectively understanding current and future requirements. Managing major repair diagnosis and repair solution cost. Responsible for all SLAs with maintenance suppliers, ensuring high standards of service, timely repairs, and cost control. Team Support: Supporting our Maintenance Team with diagnosis technical advice and incident management. What you will need: Fantastic people skills with the ability to build rapport within a supplier facing environment. Proven previous experience in large asset fleet mechanical engineering/management. Proven mechanical/technical knowledge. Strong understanding of fleet maintenance processes and legal standards.
