Job Introduction
The Popular Music Station Sound team are a multi award-winning group who create the on-air sound for BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music, 1Xtra, Asian Network, Radio 1 Dance and Radio 1 Anthems. The team create imaging, trails, and verbals as well as pre-produced programme content and mixes for Radio 1.
We are looking for a Producer to join the team and help us shape the sound of our networks by creating impactful and engaging imaging and promos heard by millions.
As a Producer in our team, you’ll work closely with Network Commissioners, presenters and programme teams to elevate the sound of our stations. You’ll bring great creative ideas that cut through, possess expert editing skills, a good music knowledge, experience of working with high profile talent and the ability to work in a tightly-knit production team.
Main Responsibilities
* To develop fresh creative ideas and turn these into great audio.
* To plan, prepare, cast, script and produce impactful trails, imaging and verbal reads.
* To work collaboratively with the wider Station Sound team, Network Commissioners, production teams, presenters and other stakeholders.
* To ensure your productions adhere to the BBC’s guidelines and editorial policy.
* To contribute in mentoring other team members as well as the next generation of Station Sound Producers and Assistant Producers.
Are you the right candidate?
* Originate and develop creative ideas, which engage audiences, in a demanding creative environment.
* Proven ability to plan, prepare, cast, script and produce impactful trails, imaging and verbal reads.
* Exceptional audio editing skills, knowledge of Pro Tools is a bonus, and a commitment to constantly learn new techniques.
* A proven ability to collaborate as part of a team and build effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, including high profile talent.
* Effective in dealing with multiple projects and delivering these to a high standard and on time.
* A demonstrable passion for music.
* A knowledge of our networks and their schedules.
* Excellent communication skills and an ability to distil complex ideas.
* The ability to work flexibly and adapt to new ways of working.
