Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Order Management: Process and manage customer orders from receipt to dispatch, ensuring they are delivered on time, meet customer specifications, and stay within budget
* Customer & Department Liaison: Liaise with customers and factory departments on approvals, manufacturing, delivery, site work, and inspections
* Electrical Design Creation: Create electrical designs, wiring diagrams, and work instructions for manufacturing
* Contract Documentation: Prepare and provide necessary contract documents, such as wiring diagrams, user manuals, export documents, and risk assessments
* Contract Review: Regularly review contracts to ensure performance targets are met
* Contract Reporting: Report contract performance updates to the Team Manager

* Follow a methodical approach to engineering problem solving.
* Establish and report engineering design briefs.
* Produce mechanical and electrical designs / drawings / sketches using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and manual systems.
* Model real-world mechanical systems efficiently.
* Select the design solution for a given electro-mechanical engineering application and environment using data to inform their decisions.
* Integrate electrical and mechanical engineering systems, considering new and emerging technologies.
* Use appropriate equipment to develop and execute test plans to support electro-mechanical product validation and approval.
* Design functional electronic systems and circuits from component level.
* Write and document structured programming code for electro-mechanical systems.
* Fabricate engineering components and assemblies using specialist manufacturing methods and hand fitting techniques.
* Assemble, wire, program and test electrical equipment, motors and control systems.

Your training plan
Electro- Mechanical Engineer Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard:
During your apprenticeship, you will receive two types of training.
On-the-job training will be delivered by Schneider Electric, your employer.
You’ll receive training and supervision to help you perform your role. This will include skills and knowledge that are outside of the apprenticeship but necessary for the job. In addition to ‘on-the-job’ training, they will support you in other ways to ensure your success.
Types of support will include:

Off-the-job training will be provided by a carefully selected training provider during your normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% of your working hours (approximately 6 hours per week) completing ‘off-the-job’ training.
This is protected time and a requirement for apprenticeship delivery. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills, and behaviours outlined in the apprenticeship standard, enabling you to achieve occupational competence.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
* 5 GCSEs to include Mathematics and English (grade Grade 4/C or above)
A Level in:
* 2 A Levels incl Maths and a physical Science (grade Grade A or above)
