Your New Company Hays are partnering with a public sector organisation to recruit a temporary Business & Community Support Officer to work on a part-time basis. Your New Role Responsible for validating, processing and recommending decisions on licensing and similar applications, including assessing the appropriateness of objections to licence applications and coordinating responses in accordance with statutory requirements. Undertake your own caseload and process applications efficiently and effectively Offer appropriate and competent assistance, information, advice and support to members of the public and businesses, in response to telephone/email/online and in-person enquiries, liaising with outside agencies and other council departments as necessary. Receive/safeguard payments, authenticate the level of fee, and issue receipts ensuring compliance with all financial regulations. Prepare reports as requested by the Lead/Principal Environmental Health Officer. Organise and deliver targeted health and wellbeing programmes, (including training) campaigns, presentations and events within the area, aimed at providing information, advice and support to individuals, households, voluntary and faith-based groups and other relevant stakeholders. This will include assisting with associated monitoring and evaluation processes. Assist with the administration, implementation and monitoring of externally funded regional programmes in accordance with both Funders and Council’s policies and procedures. Identify and develop work practice and innovation that will contribute to the improved delivery of health and wellbeing initiatives within the service. Develop links with Council staff and the voluntary, community and statutory sectors to build and maintain co-operative and productive relationships. Assist with the procurement of programme resources and in the preparation of quote/tender/contract documentation. Attend meetings as required and, when requested, represent the organisation on relevant local and regional groups. What You’ll Need To Succeed Applicants must have a minimum of a third level qualification AND Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years’ experience to include one in either of the following areas:- Wellbeing - Any work which seeks to address/improve; Physical or mental health and wellbeing, Home/Fire safety, Energy efficiency or Fuel poverty Public Protection - regulatory experience or similar type of role, e.g. building control, fire safety, dog control, environmental health OR Alternatively, consideration may be given to applicants who do not possess the required academic qualification but can demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have four years’ experience in one of either A or B.
